Frequently Asked Questions. And some tips.
How would you describe your style? I have both a fine art style, where I direct the poses and style objects, and a documentary style that captures special moments and details. My goal is to tell the love story of my clients through beautiful imagery. I love natural light and weddings that are outdoors. I am equipped also to photograph in low-light situations and in indoor situations where flash photography is needed.
Do you retouch your images? I perform basic retouching to delete blemishes and unsightly objects. Additional retouching is available for a fee. I strive to obtain the best lighting and flattering poses for every shot.
Do your packages come with a second photographer? A photographer’s assistant is included with all the packages. The assistant acts as a second photographer during the ceremony and the reception. I am the sole photographer for the posed shots of the bride and groom. If the wedding is particularly large, a second photographer may be hired in addition to the photographer’s assistant.
Do you travel? Yes, I love to travel. I am available for weddings in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Travel arrangements are made between the client and me. Lodging and air are provided by the client for the photographer and her assistant. A travel fee schedule is provided with my Photography Pricing Guide, if requested. I service within a 60-mile radius of Santa Barbara, California, with no additional travel fees. Locations outside of that radius will require an a travel fee to cover basic travel and lodging costs.
With what cameras do you shoot? I shoot with a Contax 645 and a Canon 5D Mark III with L-series lenses.
When to schedule a photographer for the wedding day? You should book your photographer as soon as possible after the venue because your photographer can consult about lighting, as well as the schedule of the day.
Are your packages customizable? Yes, you may add hours to any package as well as subtract items for which I will provide a custom quote. I want to hear about the client’s needs and strive to meet them.
Are First Looks a good thing? Yes, they give the bride and groom an opportunity to have a few moments to themselves before greeting guests. It is also a great time for photographs of the couple to avoid rushing the photographs between the ceremony and the reception. I also see the value in seeing your bride for the first time at the ceremony. Whatever suits you, suits me.
Portraits: Infants, Children, Seniors, any age
What to wear? I can consult with you about outfits. I suggest colors or pastels. Please avoid white and black. Patterns along with solid colors work nicely. Magenta does not photograph well.
Location: a location for the portrait is chosen by the client and me.
What products do you offer? I offer fine art prints on cotton rag, as well as Neve albums. I also source other products as requested by clients.
